Welcome students, old and new, back to the College of Charleston for the fall Semester. I am especially excited to welcome new Graduate Program in Marine Biology students to the Fort Johnson campus and to the Marine Resources Library. It’s an energetic time of year as we change gears for the rigors of the new academic year and the fall semester.
Amid all the activity and excitement, I also pause in sadness. The Marine Resources Library, Fort Johnson campus, and College of Charleston Libraries community mourns the very recent passing of our colleague, Maggie Applegate. Maggie served our researchers with first class effort to obtain materials from other libraries around the globe, as well as supplying materials from MRL to other libraries. Since 2005, Maggie has been part of the MRL team and was my sole assistant since 2017. We will miss her humor and presence here.
As we begin this new semester I look forward to assisting you in your research. Let me know how I can help.
