Research
Although the Marine Resources Library does not have a permanently staffed service desk, the librarian or a graduate assistant is usually available to assist library users with research. Most of our materials are at the graduate and research levels, as we support the scientific research conducted by graduate students, faculty, and professional researchers.
Borrowing Library Materials
The Marine Resources Library lends books to College of Charleston students, faculty, and staff who present a valid ID from the College of Charleston; SCDNR Marine Resources Division employees; and other affiliates. Users with a valid Friend of the Library Card from the College of Charleston Library may also borrow books. Books may be renewed two times.
Please Note: Journals may not be borrowed.
Registered library users may check their accounts and renew books online in the Discovery Platform using their CofC credentials. Library users from other affiliated agencies should use the personal Discovery Platform credentials issued to them by the library. If books are not overdue, they may also be renewed by phone. For additional information, please read our Circulation Policy.
Interlibrary Loan
The Marine Resources Library places Interlibrary Loan requests for the students, faculty, and staff of the College of Charleston’s graduate program in marine biology and SCDNR Marine Resources Division. For additional information read our Interlibrary Loan Policy.
Course Reserves
The Marine Resources Library can place items on reserve for specific instructors/courses. All reserve requests must conform to the copyright law (U.S. Code, Title 17). For more information see our Course Reserves page. If you have questions or reserve requests, contact Geoff Timms.
